Patron Behavior Policy and Loss of Library Privileges
Patrons may be restricted from the Library or from the use of the Library resources by the Library Staff, Director, or Administration on either a temporary or permanent basis.
A patron whose library privileges have been revoked may make a written request of the Library Director for a reinstatement of privileges. Reinstatement of privileges may be conditioned on future compliance.
The Cohoes Public Library does not tolerate behavior that interferes with the peaceful enjoyment and use of the Library. Patrons found to be engaging in such behavior may be warned, or asked to leave the Library for a period of time to be decided upon by the Library Director. Habitual behavioral problems may result in the loss of Library privileges.
The Cohoes Public Library does not tolerate behavior that presents a health or safety hazard, or interferes with use of the Library by others. Patrons engaging in this type of behavior in the Library will lose their Library privileges and be asked to leave immediately for a period of time to be decided upon by the Library Director.
The Cohoes Public Library Staff, Director, or Administrators will call for Police support at any time to help enforce Library Policy and to evict patrons. Patrons unwilling to leave, or who do not leave within a reasonable amount of time after being instructed to do so, may be subject to prosecution.
