The Value of a Single Payer Health Care System, June, 13, 2018 from 6-7:30 PM
Dr. George Jolly, a retired internal medicine and geriatric doctor, will offer a slide presentation on the value of a single payer health care system in NYS at the Cohoes Public Library. The event is free and open to the public. Dr. Jolly will detail how such a system can save money for local cities, counties and school districts on their healthcare budgets. There will be a question and answer session after his presentation.

Working at NASA – It’s not all Rocket Science, but it IS Fun! June 20th at 6:30pm
What is it really like to work at NASA? Do you really have to be the proverbial ‘rocket scientist’ to work there? What is it like to be a woman in the sciences. Learn about these and other questions from Dr. Kathleen Fontaine. Dr. Fontaine has over 25 years’ experience working with and for NASA as both a Contractor and a Civil Servant. This one is a must-see for any young ladies interested in the sciences!

Newspaper Digitization Grant
The Library has received a grant for close to $8000 to digitize its collection of the Cohoes Republican Newspaper. This collection includes papers from 2/18/1895 through 11/31/1919. When completed, these papers will be accessible at http://tools.nyshistoricnewspapers.org, and on our website, cohoespubliclibrary.org. We are in the process of applying for another grant to digitize our collection of the Cohoes American Newspaper (January 3rd, 1921 through December 31st, 1951) and will keep you informed of our progress. These digitized scan will be printable and key word searchable.

Summer Read
Finally, we are putting together our Summer Read programming schedule now. Look for details on our website, cohoespubliclibrary.org, on our Facebook page, in the newspapers, and in posters posted in the Library. We look forward to seeing you this summer.

Two new featured Overdive ebook collections

We have two new featured Overdive ebook collections available. Use your green thumbs to download one of these titles about gardening! This collection will be posted until May 13th. May the force be with our young readers on this May the 4th. Celebrate Star Wars Day by downloading one of these great Star Wars themed books for kids. This collection will be posted until May 6th.

Two more Qigong classes scheduled, 4/27, and 5/4

Join us Friday, April 27th at 10:30am a class in QiGong. This class, presented by Diana Wells, certified and licensed QiGong Healer and Teacher. Can’t make it this Friday? We have one more class scheduled on 5/4 as well. Keep an eye on this space for possible further scheduled classes.
