Cohoes Fire Relief Donations Accepted at Numerous Community Banks

Cohoes Fire Relief Donations Accepted at Numerous Community Banks

COHOES, NY – Mayor Shawn Morse of the City of Cohoes announced today the partnership with several community banks that will be collecting monetary donations at branch locations in the City of Cohoes to support the Cohoes Fire Relief efforts.  Pioneer Bank, CAP COM Federal Credit Union and Key Bank are all providing generous monetary donations to support those affected. If you are able, we encourage you to please make a donation at one of these branch locations to help support the recent victims of this massive fire.

“We are committed to supporting the City of Cohoes and the recent victims of the fire through this difficult time. Pioneer is providing $1000 to support those affected. If you are able, I would like to encourage you to please make a donation,” said Pioneer Bank President and CEO Tom Amell. “All of our branches will be accepting donations and we anticipate the community will pull together to show their support.”

Pioneer Bank opened their 22nd location in Cohoes earlier this year at 100 Mohawk Street. To find a list of branch locations, visit

“KeyBank has been a part of the Cohoes community for many years, and to help support victims of the fire we have opened a deposit account that we have funded with $1,000. Additional contributions to this account can be made at KeyBank’s Cohoes branch at 72 Mohawk St. KeyBank is also partnering with the Red Cross to coordinate a large-scale fundraising effort to support the immediate needs of the impacted families, and our Employee Volunteer Council has already begun discussing ways KeyBank employees can come together to provide the city of Cohoes and its people with the support they need,” said Cohoes Key Bank Branch Manager Stephanie Heslin.

CAP COM Federal Credit Union has established an account to help those displaced by the Cohoes fire with an initial contribution. Funds raised will be distributed to affected residents and businesses to help them rebuild their lives, and restore their livelihoods. “Our hearts go out to the many victims of this overwhelming fire,” said Paula Stopera, President/CEO of CAP COM. “Over our nine years in this tightly knit community, we have gotten to know many friends and neighbors. Cohoes is a very special place. Our commitment to help support those in need is unwavering.”  Donations can be made at any CAP COM branch, or sent via mail to the “Cohoes Fire Victim Fund” c/o CAP COM, 4 Winners Circle, Albany NY 12205.

At this time, all fundraising efforts are truly appreciated but are being asked to limit it to monetary donations only to be deposited into one of the said bank locations. Please note that the outpouring support of perishable or non-perishable items has been outstanding, however this all quickly piles up and is a challenge to sort and distribute. Again, we are asking to limit contributions to monetary donations only.
